WHAT TO EXPECT
Preparation, treatment and aftercare guidance for this treatment. Your provider may tailor these instructions to your individual needs.
- Avoid tanning, direct sun and self-tanner for at least two weeks.
- Avoid chemical peels, exfoliation, waxing and other lasers on the area for approximately two weeks.
- Arrive with clean skin, free from lotion, oils, makeup or numbing cream.
- Stay hydrated.
- Inform your provider about relevant medications and medical conditions.
- Treatment may need to be postponed if the skin is sunburned, irritated or broken.
- The laser targets tattoo pigment.
- Ink particles are fragmented for gradual, natural clearing.
- The sensation may feel snapping or warm.
- Cooling may be used.
- Treatment time varies by tattoo, from a few minutes up to approximately 30 minutes.
- Redness, swelling and warmth may occur.
- Temporary whitening or frosting may occur.
- The area may feel tender.
- Keep the area clean and dry.
- A cold compress may be used during the first 24 hours.
- Use the recommended healing ointment.
- Avoid hot showers, sauna, steam and heavy exercise for about 48 hours.
- Do not pick blisters or scabs.
- Avoid swimming until healed.
