Pre-Treatment Preparation

• Shave the Area: Shave the treatment area 24-48 hours before your appointment. Avoid waxing, plucking, or epilating the hair.
• Avoid Sun Exposure: Minimize sun exposure and avoid tanning for at least two weeks before your treatment.
• Avoid Certain Products: Stop using retinoids, glycolic acid, and other skin sensitizing products a few days before the treatment.
• Medication Review: Inform your practitioner of any medications you are taking, as some can increase skin sensitivity.

During the Treatment

• Protective Eyewear: Both you and the practitioner will wear protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the laser light.
• Laser Application: The laser device will be moved over the treatment area, emitting pulses of light that target the hair follicles.
• Sensation: You may feel a snapping or pinching sensation, similar to the snap of a rubber band. A cooling mechanism is used to enhance comfort.

Immediately After the Treatment

• Redness and Swelling: Expect some redness and mild swelling in the treated area, similar to a mild sunburn, which typically subsides within a few hours to a couple of days.
• Sensitivity: The treated area might feel slightly sensitive or tender to the touch.

Post-Treatment Care 

• Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect the treated area from sun exposure by using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
• Gentle Skincare: Use mild, non-irritating skincare products and avoid hot showers, saunas, and activities that may cause excessive sweating for 24-48 hours.
• Avoid Hair Removal Methods: Refrain from waxing, plucking, or epilating the treated area between sessions, as these methods can interfere with the laser's effectiveness.
• Moisturize: Keep the treated area moisturized with a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer.

Healing and Results

• Hair Shedding: Over the next few weeks, treated hair will begin to shed. This is a normal part of the process.
• Multiple Sessions: Multiple sessions (typically 6-8) spaced 4-6 weeks apart are usually required for optimal results, as hair grows in cycles.
• Improvement: You will notice a gradual reduction in hair thickness and density with each session.
